Tracks of the Week – 7/2/16

My picks for this week’s, Tracks of the Week:

Red Tag
Sofi Tukker – Drinkee (Vintage Culture & Slow Motion Remix)

Vintage Culture & Slow Motion really take this already amazing track to the next level. Building on Sofi Tukker’s signature Brazillian rhythms, this remix adds just the right amount of bass to get your body moving.  The duo also add another layer of rhythm by chopping up the monotone, chant-like vocals over top of that grinding bass.

[ FEATURE ]
Volac & Illusionize – In A Club [FEATURE031]

This grinding, bass-heavy track is aptly named “In A Club”.  The steady beat is the perfect back drop for the buildup of the vocals to the main theme of the song: somebody gonna get boned.  Of course somebody gonna get boned, you’re in a club!  The pounding of the drums beneath a spooky piano melody accompanied by an equally intriguing synth bass line work together to create a vision of dark encounters in the back of the clubs questionable bathrooms.

Wiley – Wearing My Rolex

Who can forget Wiley?  This week’s #TBT, a classic track with that catchy synth line backing Wiley’s distinctively accented vocals.

Wolfgang Lohr
Balduin – Mister Mister (Wolfgang Lohr & Louie Prima Remix) OUT NOW!!!

Wolfgang Lohr never fails to disappoint.  This is a remix of Balduin’s Mister Mister.  The original is already pretty sexy as is, Sue’s jazzy vocals tell the story of a woman who can’t seem to muster the courage to tell a certain Mister she’s smitten with him.  The soundscape takes you back to a time of dancehalls, speakeasies, and flappers.  Wolfgang Lohr & Louie Prima revamp this track to make it more edgey and add a few modern references.  For instance, do you hear that sneaky bit of the Inspector Gadget theme?  (Could he be the infamous Mister?)

Those are my picks for the week.  Also don’t forget to check out my weekly #BestOfHouse mix on #Trbble.
